A savings account for 11 to 16 year olds
Our MoneyWise account is a savings account for 11 to 16 year olds where you are in charge of the account and operating it.
Your parent or guardian will be a trustee for the account, however you are responsible for it and for all account transactions - i.e making deposits and requesting withdrawals.
At present MoneyWise accounts are only available if your school has set up a Scotwest school credit union branch.
At the school branch which will be run by pupils, you will be able to pay in cash and cheques there.
Once your account has been set up, other forms of deposit can also be arranged including debit card payments or transfers from your parent or guardian’s own Scotwest account if they have one.
As a reward for saving with us, we’ll pay you interest on your savings at the end of every three months (at the end of March, June, September and December) giving you that little bit extra for your money. The rate of interest can vary and the current rate for the account can be found here
Withdrawals will be paid out into the bank or building society account of your choice.
Ask at your school branch for an application form.
