Why did you want to serve as a Director?
I have been a manual worker all my working life and felt I needed to become a bit more involved with a different part of the sector. I felt becoming a director would give me something to focus on and improve my knowledge of financial matters and be able to understand how a credit union works to help its members.
What did you hope to gain personally from taking up this position?
I have gained an insight into the financial sector that effects credit unions which includes risk management and understanding how budgets are arrived at. Also, it gave me more confidence in addressing the rest of the board and others in credit union circles.
In 10 words or fewer why you recommend joining the Scotwest Board?
It’s a great way to improve your confidence and knowledge.
