After being nominated by Scotwest Credit Union member Yvonne Stevenson, Oor Wee Den in Kilmaurs has been awarded £400 by Scotwest Credit Union as part of our 25th Anniversary Community Awards.

Created just over a year ago, Oor Wee Den offers breakfast clubs, after school care for children in the Kilmaurs and Crosshouse areas. With a fun filled programme of arts, sport and education,  the group is a Not for Profit Community Interest Company, meaning that costs are as low as is feasible, meaning as many families in the community as possible can enjoy the Den.

Being presented with their award, Julie Burns and Christine Clark, the Den’s Managing Directors, said “We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated by Yvonne. It’s heartening to see how well the Den is appreciated by the local community. Oor Wee Den is getting bigger by the day and this award will go towards providing more equipment for our Den Kids as we continue to expand and offer more activities in Kilmaurs and further afield.

Scotwest CEO Kenny MacLeod said “We agree completely with our member Yvonne that Oor Wee Den is doing great work in their community and we are very happy to be able to support it with this award. We are looking forward to seeing how Oor Wee Den goes from strength to strength!”
